The Fellowship of Reconciliation is the largest, oldest interfaith peace organization in the United States.

        Since 1915, the Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) has carried on programs and educational projects concerned with domestic and international peace and justice, nonviolent alternatives to conflict, and the rights of conscience.   It is a part of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR), which has affiliates in over 40 countries.  For more information, go to www.forusa.org

        The Fellowship of Reconciliation, LA chapter, is a diverse interfaith group committed to active nonviolence as a transforming way of life and as a means of radical change.  We educate, train, build coalitions, and engage in nonviolent and compassionate actions locally, nationally, and globally. Teaching about the Arab World and Islam, 2011

LAUSD Salary Point Class              Instructor: Linda Tubach


         Our popular salary point class, “Teaching about the Arab World and Islam” (2011), will repeat this year on two Saturdays, October 22 and 29, 2011. The class will take place at UTLA’s Helen Bernstein Professional Development Center (3303 Wilshire Blvd., 8th floor-- parking structure entrance on Berendo) from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on both days, lunch included. Teachers (K-12, across disciplines) and HSS professionals can earn 1 general or multicultural specific LAUSD salary point after required homework assignments are completed.

        With a series of outstanding presenters, this class addresses many aspects of the Arab World and Islam, including: ethnic and religious diversity, history, cultural stereotypes, current political issues, and relations with the United States. Information on teaching resources and strategies, as well as guidelines on meeting California academic content standards will be provided.
